58,000 wait on Leaving Cert results
 These include 55,963 people who were registered for the the traditional Leaving Certificate, in June, and 3,000 for the Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) programme, although final sit numbers are usually several hundred fewer. The State Examinations Commission (SEC) has been issuing results to 700 schools and centres, where they will be handed over to students this morning. The numbers entered for Leaving Certificate exams were up 900 on 2014, and there has also been a slight increase in college application numbers.
The Central Applications Office (CAO) has had 79,000 applications for undergraduate courses, up 300 on last year. Of these, 46,676 are applicants who did the Leaving Certificate this year.
