Pension lump sums of more than €150,000 for 11 teachers

Eleven secondary school teachers last year received pension lump sums of between €150,000 and €165,000 on retiring in a pensions bonanza, new figures show.

According to the Department of Education, one retired school teacher received €165,862.

The teacher was one of four to receive retirement payments over €160,000.
