€151m to be spent on 1,000 social house units

More than €151m has been allocated for construction and purchase of 1,000 social housing units across the country.

The money, part of funding already in place, will go on freshly-selected schemes, Environment Minister Alan Kelly said.

Some €84m will go on 521 new homes, while €67m has been allocated for buying another 536 units.
