Communities to get help to ‘adopt’ local monuments

The Adopt a Monument Scheme to be piloted by the Heritage Council aims to get teams of volunteers working in conjuction with conservation experts to preserve and protect forgotten structures of historical importance in their locality.

The amateur archaeologists and history buffs will be trained in researching and recording their monument’s history, interpreting its significance and basic maintenance techniques.
