More than 400 jobseekers were interviewed for just 60 positions at the country’s newest McDonald’s restaurant which opened in Cork yesterday.

Businessman Jim Ronayne, the owner and operator of the new €3m outlet built on a strip of former Munster Rugby land alongside Musgrave Park on the Kinsale Road, said he had a queue of people seeking work.

“We treat people very well. We pay them well in excess of the minimum wage and have never had a problem with recruitment,” he said.
