Woman seeks father of son 12 years after nightclub fling
The woman sent an email to Ryan Tubridy’s 2FM show asking for help in locating the man who, she said, she had met in July 2003 before attending a Laois v Tyrone match.
As Laois did not play Tyrone in July of that year, a spokesperson for RTÉ said it had contacted the woman, who confirmed she had mixed up her dates and meant the Laois v Armagh match, which took place on August 3, 2003.

After going out ‘on the town’ with some of her friends, she said she ended up in the famous Harcourt St nightclub, where she met a man with whom she had a one-night stand.
“Myself and some friends went out on the Friday night and I met someone in Coppers,” she wrote. “We got separated from our friends and went to what I think was the Bewley’s Hotel in Ballsbridge.
“I left the next morning for the match and didn’t think anything of it. Yes, we had a one-night stand and as a result, I have a wonderful son.”
The woman revealed that neither she or her partner for the night were overly drunk, but she ended up pregnant.
The woman stated she “wants nothing” from the man now, as she is happily married, but would like to track him down to tell him he has a son.
“We were not too drunk but this happened 12 years ago so I don’t have a great memory of everything,” she wrote.
“I think his name was Seán and he was from Armagh/Tyrone. He may also had an earring. I want nothing from this person, he has his own life, but I just wanted to let him know.”
Despite the passage of more than a decade, the woman still hopes to find ‘Seán’ and although she acknowledges her “stupid” actions on the night, she says it taught her a lot.
“We all do stupid things and I have no regrets,” she wrote. “My son is 11 now and he is brilliant. He has a step-dad now, and he is great too. That night woke me up to life and made me grow up.
“This has been on my mind for years, wondering what I could do to find this person without a second name.”
For his part, Tubridy said it was a bit “unlikely we will find him” and suggested the email effort was a “bit of a wild goose chase”.
“I mean, she was young, she was carefree, and she decided to have a bit of fun in Dublin and had a one-night stand and then had the son but now is curious to know and let the dad know that, by the way, there was that night of passion,” said Tubridy.
“A one-night stand. ‘You were up for the match, supporting Armagh and you ended up in the Bewley’s Hotel in Ballsbridge and I have a son and he’s yours.’ ”
