Cork has second highest number of rented school pre-fab units in the country and the Government is set to spend €13.94m renting out pre-fabs this year.

State to spend €14m renting school pre-fabs

According to figures provided by the Minister for Education, Jan O’Sullivan, there are 124 rented prefabs in operation in Cork this year. The figures show only Dublin with 164 prefabs had more with Galway having 100 prefabs ranked third in terms of number of rented pre-fabs.

“Under my department’s Prefab Replacement Initiatives 2012 and 2013 approval was given to 217 schools to replace 614 prefab units with permanent accommodation,” said Ms O’Sullivan.
