A man accused of a serious assault on his wife by allegedly turning her upside down and spear-tackling her — head first — into the ground wants his bail changed so that his wife can live with him.

Daniel Spencer, formerly of Tír Cluain, Cloyne, Co Cork, and now with an address at The Avenue, Macroom, Co Cork, was back before Cork District Court yesterday on the charge of assault causing harm to his wife Sarah Egan outside a nightclub at Hanover Street, Cork, shortly before 2am on Tuesday, April 7.

Detective Garda Gordon Crowley opposed bail last month on the basis that his wife was in fear of him approaching her.
