A 10-year-old boy who slipped on a water slide at the swimming pool in Churchfield in Cork was awarded €3,500 yesterday for an injury to his shoulder.

The accident happened as the boy was stepping from the top of the stairs, across a short passage where water is pumped on to the surface before the actual slide itself.

Cian Mulcahy was aged 10 at the time of the accident on April 16, 2011, at Leisureworld, Churchfield. He brought the case to Cork Circuit Court through his mother, Merlyn Mulcahy of Mount Farran, Assumption Road, Cork, against the defendant company, Sport Ionad Reiguinach Chorcaí Teoranta.
