A coroner has issued a stark warning about the dangers of cooking after consuming alcohol following an inquest into the death of a teenager in a chip pan fire tragedy.

Coroner for South Cork, Frank O’Connell, was speaking yesterday after recording a verdict of accidental death in relation to the death last October of Evan Kidney in Cork.

Evan, aged 17, of 59, Lower Pouladuff Rd, Cork, was found dead by his older brother, Dylan, in the kitchen of his grandmother Kathleen’s home at 64 Elmvale, Wilton, Cork, on Sunday, October 19.
