Bride-to-be hopes to woo Gary Barlow

A Limerick mother-of-one has begun stalking Take That star Gary Barlow, in a bid to get him to sing at her wedding in August.

Patricia O’Shea even brought her own life-size cardboard cutout of the singer on a romantic weekend around her native city to help her campaign.

The crooner has sung at two fans’ weddings and has promised to perform at three more if brides-to-be stalk him on his Twitter account.

“My mother thinks I’m cracked. In my parents’ house, my old bedroom is still covered in Take That stickers. My mum has threatened to change the room and I’ve told her, no way. She knows I’m a huge fan and I’ve kept everything. Everyone knows about my Take That ‘fetish’ as everyone calls it,” said Patricia, 37.

Patricia’s stalking is taking so much of her time up, she’s left her Kerry fiancé Richard fending for himself.

“I’ve been tweeting like mad. All my friends joined Twitter and we’ve been constantly at it.

“We were tweeting 150 tweets a day. I bought a cardboard cutout of Gary and brought him ‘on tour’ during a trip to my aunt in America to try and bring his attention to it,” she said.

Patricia also sent Gary pictures of her and him together on a DVD night in, in front of the telly eating popcorn, and of the two of them building a snowman.

“He looks so real. He’s also come to work with me, we’ve done a good bit together.”

Whenever she takes Gary out with her, the pair always get strange looks but Patricia said: “It’s great fun, and people are always taking pictures when they see us.”

At the weekend Patricia took her stalking to a whole new level when she brought Gary to her wedding ceremony venue, St Michael’s Church on Denmark St.

She also showed Gary the local sights at King John’s Castle and the historic Treaty Stone.

Patricia added: “Shannon Airport is only out the road from us. We’ll put on a cheap Ryanair flight for him and then he’ll have easy access in and out for the wedding. He can go straight home then if he wants.

“If he doesn’t come to the wedding, we still have our cardboard cutout. He’ll still be at the top table,” she said.
