People will have to present identification to apply for tickets to attend future meetings of Cork City Council under new security arrangements agreed last night.

The details of the new public access system, designed to prevent further disruption by protesters, were hammered out by councillors and officials who met in private before last night’s regular council meeting.

The in-committee meeting was called following a spate of protests which have disrupted several council meetings in recent months.
