Nursing home bills to soar

Elderly people needing long term care could be asked to contribute considerably more to cover the cost of nursing home bills, it was claimed last night.

The option to take a bigger slice of the income and assets of elderly people is set out in a review of the Fair Deal Scheme recently delivered to the Department of Health and the HSE, according to RTE’s Prime Time.

The review has yet to be published. Details of its findings on the financial sustainability of the scheme were reportedlast night.
