Cork singer Danica Holland seeks to launch career with crowdfunding

Danica Holland, 23, from Glengarriff, has almost raised enough cash, so far, to release her first single.
“I’m 80% of the way there and just need one final push to kickstart my career.”

She had made headlines with her powerful pop vocals and edgy stage performances on RTÉ’s Voice of Ireland.
Despite being one of two favourites to win, she was sent home after a shock vote announcement in the last live show before the semi-finals.
Danica also featured in the opening rounds of The X-Factor in a pop group backed by Louis Walsh, but, despite her experience on reality TV shows, she has decided to pursue a career in music, on her own terms.
She has returned to a waitressing job in a Cork bar and is working on new material in a recording studio.

“I started singing in my late teens,” Danica said. “I gigged with a band made up of two close friends and my brother, Dale. We played local gigs, youth discos, and things like that. During that time, Dale sang while I played drums and covered the backing vocals.
“So I didn’t really have any experience holding a crowd or being a frontman.”
However, she said her appearance on The Voice of Ireland was a massive and daunting platform. “The experience had me hooked and made me want to give a career in music a shot,” she said.
“Singing is definitely something that runs in the family. My father had a band that gigged around West Cork, while my mam is part of a Cork choir. They’ve been so supportive of my decision to put a career in teaching on hold and follow my music dreams.”
Danica has recorded her first single ‘Love Games’, and hopes to release it soon.
She has now turned to fans and friends and hopes to use crowdfunding to fund the production and release of her music and videos.
As part of her Fund It drive, she has offered fans various rewards, including signed limited edition copies of her single, baked goodies and private concerts. She has even offered to write a specially commissioned song in exchange for support.
