Cork institution set to shut up shop

Barbers Prams and Cycles has confirmed it will close its doors on Easter Saturday.

Tom and Hilda Barber first opened for business on Connolly Rd, Ballyphehane, in 1959. The premises expanded to include the adjoining shops and continues to be run as a family business, selling items including nursery furniture and accessories, cots, buggies, strollers, and tricycles.

It also offered an “in-house” repair service on all items purchased from it.

A message on its Facebook page yesterday stated: “After more than half a century of trading we have decided the time has come to call it a day. Our doors will close for the last time on Easter Saturday, April 4, 2015. In preparation for this, there is now 25% off all bikes. We would remind anyone with items on deposit that they must be collected before this date.”
