Man settles case after ladder fall
The Labour Party denied liability for the fall and said Mr Stanton failed to take proper safety measures when erecting posters for Paula Desmond who ran for the party in Cork South Central in the 2011 General Election along with sitting TD, Ciaran Lynch.
Mr Stanton told Mr Justice John Hedigan he was not a member of the Labour Party but had been recruited by Ms Desmond to her campaign team as he had previously helped with postering for one of his friends who had run for Labour in local elections.
On the day of the accident, he was postering with his son, Cillian at Deanrock in Togher in Cork city.
He climbed up a ladder but fell on his back onto a concrete pavement beneath.
He broke four ribs.
