Jail for pointing replica gun at man’s head

Gardaí responded to an anonymous call claiming that a man produced a gun during a row and put it to the head of another and yesterday a man who admitted possessing the replica semi-automatic pistol and blank cartridges was jailed for 18 months.

Gerry Ross, aged 37, of 55 Mary Aikenhead Place, Gurranabraher, Cork, had been out all night drinking and taking drugs and gambling at a casino.

Shortly after 10am on January 31, 2014, gardai received the tip-off that during a row between two men one of them produced a gun and pointed it directly at the head of the other man.
