Pub chain Wetherspoons distances itself from fake Cork Facebook page

JD Wetherspoon has said a “Wetherspoons Cork” Facebook page slating the prices charged by a number of Cork pubs is not linked in any way to the pub chain.

Pub chain Wetherspoons distances itself from fake Cork Facebook page

A number of posts on the page make thinly veiled references to a number of well-known Cork bars and the prices they charge.

Posts include: “So ho. Who is looking forward to not getting screwd over in our city bars, sorry I mean so who, apologise” and “Holy cow, a pub in Cork not naming names is selling a beer we will be selling for €2.70 they are charging €5. #crazyprices”.

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon confirmed the Facebook was not in any way affiliated to the pub chain.

“We have always offered very competitive drinks and food and this is the case at our existing pubs in Blackrock and Dún Laoghaire,” he said.

“It is up to individual pubs and bars in Cork to charge the prices they wish and we would not comment on that. However, we believe that our prices at our Cork pub will be welcomed as and when we open.”
