Ireland’s fortunes ‘tied to the EU’

Ireland’s fortunes remain tied to Europe and it is becoming increasingly difficult to hold the middle ground as voters turn to the far right and far left, Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said.

Ambassadors and the diplomatic corps yesterday received resounding praise from Mr Kenny for their help winning back investor confidence in the country. However, he called on mission chiefs to redouble their efforts abroad to strengthen economic recovery.

He was speaking at the second day of a conference on foreign affairs in Dublin.
