Childcare cost review too little too late, claim Fianna Fáil

Moves to look at easing the burden of childcare costs have been attacked by opposition parties as too little too late.

Children’s Minister James Reilly was today briefing the Cabinet on an inter-departmental probe tasked with seeing how best to spend the €260m used in the area, the bulk of which — €170m — goes on the pre-school year scheme.

The panel is expected to report back within six months with the first measures resulting from it appearing in the October budget.
