A teenager who torched his care history files in a children’s home has been spared a custodial sentence.

The 17-year-old, who has a history of mental health problems, pleaded guilty at the Dublin Children’s Court to criminal damage and public order offences.

Judge John O’Connor bound him to the peace for six months, meaning he must stay out of trouble or else he could face a possible sentence or community sanction.
