Man accused of raping his daughter 84 times
The accused appeared at an in camera hearing of the court because of the nature of the charges.
The alleged rapes were committed at two Cork City addresses between January 2008 and November 2009, when the girl was aged around 16-17.
A book of evidence is being prepared, Inspector Gary McPolin confirmed yesterday.
Judge Con O’Leary adjourned the case until January 20 to allow time for preparation and service of a book of evidence.
Once the book is served on the accused at Cork District Court, it is anticipated the case will be sent forward for trial at the Central Criminal Court.
Defence solicitor Emmet Boyle said the purpose of the case, which was first brought against the accused in December, being listed at Cork District Court yesterday was in relation to the accused’s bail conditions.
The accused had been living in Co Cork and required a change of his bail conditions so that he could live in Cork City.
Inspector McPolin said there was no objection to that change of bail.
His bail conditions require him to have no contact with the complainant. They also require him to abide by a curfew, sign four times a week at a garda station, and not to apply for travel documents.
