Environment Minister Alan Kelly has said he wants the bonus culture addressed at Irish Water and that he has spoken to unions representing company workers on the issue.

Mr Kelly was speaking as the Coalition’s revised water charges legislation continued to make its way through the Dáil last night.

A spokesman for Taoiseach Enda Kenny yesterday said he was “optimistic” about the reduced charging scheme for families being passed into law before Christmas amid warnings that a failure to do so could result in households having to pay bills in January.
