Emergency responses to the homelessness crisis in Dublin will include 260 beds for rough sleepers, €20m in extra funds, and a night cafe for those unwilling to enter accommodation.

Environment Minister Alan Kelly made the announcements yesterday as charities welcomed his response following the death of Jonathan Corrie outside Leinster House recently.

Following an emergency summit of those working with the homeless last week, Mr Kelly has ordered Dublin authorities to give half of all housing allocations to homeless households over the next six months.
