The man behind the success of the renowned Clonakilty Black Pudding is to have a street named after him in the town.

Next Friday, the Clonakilty street formerly known as Bridge Street — it runs from the AIB corner to the Post Office Bridge — will be formally unveiled as Edward Twomey Street, by his wife Colette, who is now mayor of the town.

Edward Twomey, who died several years ago at the age of 54, had a passion for his product which saw it become a household name across the globe.
