Four plead guilty to aggravated burglary

Four men have admitted being involved in an aggravated burglary while in possession of two guns and a machete at the rural home of a young family last year.

The four, all from north Dublin, pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary at the home of Emma and Mark Corcoran and their children outside Killenaule in Co Tipperary, when they appeared before Clonmel Circuit Court yesterday.

Other charges were withdrawn after Michael Delaney SC, for the DPP, said the aggravated burglary pleas were acceptable to the State.

Patrick Joyce, aged 22, of Beaumont Hall, Beaumont Woods, Dublin 9; Donal O’Hara, aged 22, of Glin Park, Coolock, Dublin 17; and Michael McDonagh, aged 23, of Tara Lawns, Belcamp Lane, Coolock, Dublin 17, were remanded on continuing bail by Judge Thomas Teehan.

Thomas Flynn, aged 20, of Moatview Avenue, Coolock, Dublin 17, was remanded in custody.

Their case will be mentioned in Clonmel Circuit Court on January 14.

The four admitted entering, on November 21 of last year, the home of Mark Corcoran and Emma Corcoran at Burnchurch, Killenaule, Co Tipperary, with intent to commit a theft while in possession of a shotgun, handgun, and machete.

Three other men who have been charged in relation to the incident. John Joyce, aged 20, of Lentisk Lawn, The Donaghies, Donaghmede, Dublin; Dean Byrne, aged 22, of Cabra Park, Dublin 7; and Patrick Gately, aged 27, of Primrose Grove, Darndale, Dublin 17 had their cases adjourned until next February and were remanded in custody.
