Ministers briefed on security in wake of demonstrations

Ministers were briefed by gardaí yesterday about reviewing their security following a series of angry demonstrations at public events over the introduction of water charges.

Foreign Affairs Minister Charlie Flanagan said gardaí were advising some ministers yesterday morning as to whether they required beefed-up security.

His comments came as Taoiseach Enda Kenny hit out at the actions of protesters in recent days.
