An all-island body to support victims of sexual abuse during "the conflict" has been called for by the North’s deputy first minister, Martin McGuinness.

The leading Sinn Féin figure set out the proposals in letters to Taoiseach Enda Kenny and the North’s first minister, Peter Robinson.

The proposed group would deal with “the issue of support for those who were victims of sexual abuse during the conflict”, Mr McGuinness said as he called for greater help for survivors, including access to justice.
