Suicide prevention charity the Samaritans has been urged to withdraw a controversial app over privacy concerns.

The Samaritans Radar app allows users to monitor the Twitter feeds of more than 1.6m people they follow — searching for certain keywords which may indicate mental health problems.

Once activated, the app uses a specially-created algorithm to identify potentially concerning words and phrases.
