Double rapist has no intention to leave home

has established that O’Driscoll, 47, has not visited the new-age traveller settlement at Coole Mountain, Dunmanway, or been anywhere near it since his release from prison on July 9 — despite recent reports to that effect in other media outlets.O’Driscoll has told confidants he is not happy about these reports and will not be leaving his home in Glenville, despite having been threatened by a gunman there in August.
O’Driscoll lives at a halting site on the outskirts of Glenville with a brother and his elderly mother, who is not in the best of health.
He has told people that, as he has lived all his life in Glenville, he wants to remain there in peace. He is also very close to his mother.
He has also said that he has served his time for both the rapes and just wants to be left alone.
Gardaí are still investigating the incident on August 5 when two men pulled up on a motorcycle outside the halting site.
O’Driscoll fled to the fields after he spotted that one of the men was armed. The powerful motorcycle was later found burnt out about 8km north of the scene, near the village of Ballyhooly.
Gardaí suspect somebody was trying to frighten O’Driscoll enough to make him move out of the area.
People living in Glenville have become increasingly nervous since he moved back there following his release from the Midlands Prison after serving 11 years of a 17-year sentence for the brutal rape of a woman in Fermoy, Co Cork.
He had attacked her shortly after being released from prison after serving a previous 12-year sentence for the rape of another woman in Kilkenny.
Gardaí have been keeping a close eye on O’Driscoll since he arrived back at the halting site, sometimes visiting him up to three times a day.
If he were to change his permanent address, he would have to notify gardaí about it because he on the sex offenders’ register.
