Each position, apart from a temporary post in the West/North West Hospital Group (WNWHG), will last for two years, with the chief executives reporting to the National Director of Acute Hospitals, Dr Tony O’Connell.
Gerry O’Dwyer has been appointed chief executive of the South/South West Hospitals Group. According to the HSE, he has been performing the role of group CEO on an interim basis for most of 2014.
The group includes hospitals in Cork, Kerry, South Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny.
Mary Day is the new chief executive of the Ireland East Hospitals Group. She is currently the chief executive of the Mater Hospital in Dublin. Her group includes hospitals in Dublin, Mullingar, Kilkenny, Wexford and Meath.
Bill Maher will oversee the Royal College of Surgeons Hospital Group in Dublin North East. He will leave his post as group chief executive of the West North West Hospitals Group to take on the role.
Dr Susan O’Reilly will leave her post as national director of the National Cancer Control Programme to become chief executive of the Dublin Midlands Hospital Group.
Colette Cowan is leaving her post with the WNWHG as chief director of nursing and midwifery to become chief of the University of Limerick Hospitals Group. Finally, Maurice Power has been appointed acting chief executive of the WNWHG where is currently chief financial officer. He will hold the post while a new CEO is sought.
