School bus proof of payment acceptable

Families still waiting for school bus tickets will be allowed use proof they have paid to avail of school transport services while Bus Éireann tries to clear a backlog caused by problems with a new online system.

But the exception to normal rules is only being made in respect of children whose families paid ahead of the August 1 closing date. The company is issuing temporary tickets by email to people whose tickets were processed since last Wednesday, in case of any postal delays, and these can also be used on the service.

As highlighted by the Irish Examiner last Saturday, a new centralised system for the processing of tickets was a factor in delays.
