My parents are so proud of me, says Eve Hewson

Bonoâs daughter has seen her star rise overnight thanks to a starring role in the hotly-anticipated US series, The Knick, opposite Clive Owen.
The 23-year-old told the Daily Beast that her parents were initially wary about her foray into the acting world until they realised how passionate she was about pursuing a career as a screen star.
âMy parents were being protective of me and I honestly didnât think they would have been good parents if they werenât wary of me, their daughter, entering the entertainment industry,â she said.
âThey wanted to make sure I really knew what I was signing up for and that I was serious. I basically said to my dad that, look, Iâm just as passionate about movies as you were about music, and when you were 18 you wouldnât let anyone stop you so youâve got to let me do this.
âHe was like, âOh shit. I do.â He was like, âCrap.â He didnât take no for an answer when he was 18 so I have that in my genes.â
The Dubliner, who has bagged a string of movie roles in recent years, said her status as the daughter of one of the most famous rock stars in the world simply doesnât matter when it comes to casting.
âWhatâs great about Hollywood is that it is so cut-throat, and it really doesnât matter who you are.
âIf youâre not right for the part, youâre not right the part. No director is going to sacrifice their film because they want someoneâs famous kid in it for a headline.
âI donât walk into a room thinking about what other people are thinking of me. Maybe theyâve googled my name before, but I donât think about it.â
The Knick, a medical series centred on a maverick doctor played by Clive Owen, sees Hewson playing a naive nurse from West Virginia working in the Knickerbocker Hospital in New York at the start of the 20th century.
âShe is quite the sweet character. Sheâs so curious and naive. I couldnât help falling in love with that,â the actress revealed.
She said her parents are delighted that she landed the role. âNow theyâre so proud of me... They want to see the show, and theyâre so upset because theyâre going to be in Ireland and I donât think itâs coming out in Ireland until September.â
