The brother of TD Michael Healy-Rae, whose home near Kilgarvan was targeted by burglars in broad daylight, has called for the re-opening of local Garda stations.

Danny Healy-Rae, a county councillor, yesterday said Michael’s house had been “ransacked” in broad daylight and the family still did not know what the thieves were seeking. A house that had been broken into was never the same, he added.

The thieves were disturbed and Michael’s wife, Eileen, who stopped off while on her way from the family post office in the Co Kerry village centre, actually met the thieves running down the avenue.
