Biffy leave bearded masses happy

Tattooed, shirtless, and rocking hard, Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro won thousands of new fans in the Marquee last night, myself included.

Biffy leave bearded masses happy

And it seems Biffy Clyro’s audience are more followers than fans as they arrive in the masses wearing their scraggy beards as though they were in the band.

A booming atmosphere enveloped the tent as vocalist and guitarist Simon Neil sang out with his famed Scottish accent and his even more famous Scottish “f” word.

My favourite T-shirt on sale was “Biffy effing Clyro”. The Scottish accent really turned a swear word into a term of endearment for me.

Opening with the crowd favourite ‘Different People’, the passion between the band and audience was tangible.

This trio have certainly earned their eminent names as rock legends. Whether it was screaming soulfully into the mic or beating the drums, the crowd were astounded by Biffy Clyro. With hits as rousing as ‘That Golden Rule’ and ‘Bubbles’, the Marquee was in store for a night of roaring rock majesty.

More and more of their renowned hits brought huge reactions from their energised ensemble. ‘The Captain’, the third single from their fifth studio album, Only Revolutions, had the audience singing out louder than Simon.

The instantaneous ‘Black Chandelier’, one of the trio’s biggest hits, was rousingly received by the heaving crowd.

Then came the much anticipated ‘Many Of Horror’, which was made intensely popular by X-Factor winner Matt Cardle in 2010, under the title ‘When We Collide’.

Although Cardle may have brought the song to national attention, it was Biffy Clyro who made the song burn bright. No other cover of this song can compare to Biffy Clyro’s utter power over their instruments and love for their music.

Bringing the show to an end with a demanded encore, the band played ‘Mountains’, their highest charting single to date in the UK.

It masterfully showcased Biffy Clyro’s pure talent for controlling a crowd with their musical abilities.

‘Stingin’ Belle’ from their last LP, the 2013 double-album Opposites, proved that this band intends to keep producing hard-hitting rock songs and remain on our radars for a long time yet to come.

I for one am looking forward to what this brilliant band have planned for us.
