‘Top target’ arrested over €4m heroin haul

One of the country’s biggest suspected drug importers is being questioned in connection with the third largest heroin seizure in the history of the State.

‘Top target’ arrested over €4m heroin haul

The man, who runs a legitimate business, has been a “top target” of the Garda National Drugs Unit (GNDU) for the last 12 years.

In a coordinated operation, code-named Iron Stone, GNDU detectives arrested the man in a Co Louth premises as another team of officers stopped an articulated truck on the M1 toll bridge near Drogheda.
