€2k drone crashes in jail drugs drop

An innovative plan to fly suspected drugs into Wheatfield Prison in Dublin backfired when a quadcopter crash-landed in an exercise yard.

The incident took place at around 11am on Tuesday and is believed to have followed a dummy run on a previous day.

The Irish Prison Service confirmed yesterday that the incident took place and that a number of inmates involved would face disciplinary procedures.
