Legislation to regulate clamping on private property will let operators charge a maximum release fee and follow an agreed code of practice.

Varadkar plans rogue clamper crackdown

Transport Minister Leo Varadkar said the rules would come into force next year to protect against unscrupulous clampers charging excessive fees.

No exemptions are planned in places such as nursing homes and private hospitals, despite recommendations from an Oireachtas Committee.
