Rehab advertising in Ireland and Britain for CEO

Public advertisements appear in the media in Ireland and Britain today for a new chief executive for the Rehab group.

The position, which was vacated by former CEO Angela Kerins at the start of April, was advertised internally throughout the organisation yesterday.

Ms Kerins’ departure followed controversy over her €240,000 a year salary, a figure she revealed only after she was put under significant pressure to do so.

Dr Eddie Molloy, a consultant appointed to review the charity, revealed last month that her replacement will only be paid in the region of €140,000.

Dr Molloy said it was felt that the salary was fair and would attract somebody who would seize the opportunity, not only to restore the fortunes and reputation of Rehab, but also of the sector that had been badly damaged by recent controversies.

Meanwhile, Rehab has confirmed that it is pressing ahead with its People of the Year Awards.

“We are very much looking forward to celebrating the 40th anniversary of the awards this year and preparations are already in train,” a spokesman said. “The People of the Year Awards provide a unique opportunity for the Irish public to honour those who have made a real difference to people’s lives, whether as unsung heroes or household names.”
