As of 2.40pm 32 of the 54 boxes were open and the picture among the 16 Killarney candidates sees Independent Danny Healy-Rae topping the poll at 23.7 per cent with 2,548 votes.

He is followed by the independent Brendan Cronin at 16.8 per cent and 1805 of the vote and third is independent Michael Gleeson who is coming in at 12.3 per cent with 1,328 votes.

Donal Grady, former town councillor and also independent has 5.8 per cent or 624 votes so far.
