‘No problem apologising’ to whistleblower, says Kenny

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said that he has "no problem apologising" to whistleblower Sgt Maurice McCabe for the way the Government handled his warnings of garda malpractice.

The Taoiseach made the move as he came under heavy opposition fire over the “inertia” and “drift” shown by ministers who did not take the complaints seriously for two years.

Mr Kenny said that Sgt McCabe had been “vindicated” by the Guerin probe into his concerns.
