Tax cuts will be on the agenda in this autumn’s budget according to both coalition parties, who are attempting to lure voters ahead of next week’s election, with promises on easing up on austerity.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said that while he could not give any guarantees on October’s budget, easing the income tax burden is a “priority”.

Speaking on the campaign trail in Sligo, he said if the economy strengthens, “any flexibility will be shown to hard-pressed people, I meet them every day”.
