Varadkar calls for ‘culture of change’ in gardaí

Transport Minister Leo Varadkar has warned that a culture of change is needed in An Garda Síochána as the Cabinet begins talks this week about setting up a full inquiry into allegations of misconduct.

He made the comments as fresh damning claims against gardaí continue to emerge.

Mr Varadkar said he was not surprised by the Guerin Report published last week which said that the Department of Justice failed to adequately probe serious allegations by Garda whistleblower Sgt Maurice McCabe.
