Taoiseach thanks former ally for service to country

Taoiseach Enda Kenny heaped praise on his close political ally Alan Shatter yesterday, but others were not so generous regarding the former justice minister’s resignation.

Mr Kenny said Mr Shatter had an extraordinary capacity for work and that his legacy was one the nation could be thankful for.

“He has been rightly recognised as an exceptionally hardworking, radical and reforming minister. He has left us a positive legacy for all the people of this country in a wide range of areas from which he has had ministerial responsibility.
