Man threatened to kill ex-girlfriend after split

A young man threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and harassed her through texts, letter and Facebook in the months following their break-up.

Thomas Keane, 29, who had been living at an apartment at Victoria Terrace, Summerhill North, Cork, and later moved to Ballyvourney, was given a five-month jail sentence yesterday suspended on condition that he would keep the peace for the next two years.

Keane previously pleaded guilty to a charge of harassing the young woman on dates between June 14 and July 3 last year and of threatening to kill her on July 4.
