See the summer solstice during a Killarney walk
The event will be celebrated during the Killarney Walking Festival, with activity centred around the area’s fabled lakes and mountains.
Killarney’s landscape and cultural heritage will be celebrated with walks, talks and photography.
The weekend — Friday, June 20, to Sunday, June 22 — will feature guided walks, photography workshops, boat trips on the lakes and nightly entertainment, including a summer solstice night of fun and traditional music.
Families, walking clubs and anyone who loves the outdoors are invited to take part in the walks. which are programmed to suit all ages and abilities.
From the challenging McGillycuddy’s Reeks hike to the leisurely Tomies Wood trail, there are 12 guided walks from which to choose.

Experts John O’Sullivan, Lodge and Reeks Guiding, and Ray and Mary Walsh, along with experienced local guides, will host the series of walks and treks
The signature walk, Capturing the Light, involves climbing the Paps of Danu, on the Cork/Kerry border.
Participants will see the first light of the summer solstice sunrise. The walk will be led by award-winning photojournalist Valerie O’Sullivan.
