A young Kerryman has toe-tapped his way into the history books.

David Geaney dances way to fifth Irish dancing world title

David Geaney, 19, from Dingle, has won his fifth world title at World Irish Dancing Championships in London.

“I’m thrilled to have won the world title again, I had been working towards it all year, practising a minimum of three hours a day as well as dancing in Celtic Steps in Killarney throughout the summer,” he said.

“I love performing in front of an audience, the more people the better. It’s an amazing feeling.”

David is back performing with Celtic Steps, a traditional Irish music, song and dance show which runs five nights a week at the INEC complex, in Killarney.

Show producer David Rea said in his 40 years of dancing he had never seen the likes of David Geaney.

“He is the best freestyle dancer in the world and it’s an honour to watch him perform. To win a world title is an incredible feat but to win five is quite simply astounding.

“He’s a credit to his mother, Susan, and grandmother, Betty Moroney, who never miss a show,” he said.
