It is understood staff at the Cork office, which has been in operation for four years, were informed yesterday.

Julie Cordner, a spokes-woman for the company, said the Dublin-based board were carrying out a review of its Cork operations but could not say how long that process would take.

“The board of Grafton have decided to review the operations of the Cork branch. Staff have been informed,” said Mr Cordner.

She said that, until a final decision is reached on the future of the office, “it is business as usual”.

The office has four staff and one manager, and those positions are now under threat due to the review.

Ms Cordner said the recruitment sector has changed “dramatically” in recent years. “There is less and less requirement for a large high-street presence,” she said, adding that “more of it is done online”.
