Cork dealership first to sell fold-up car set to revolutionise parking

It’s the ultimate accessory for us spatially challenged females and the answer to every male chauvinist driver’s prayer — it’s the world’s first fold-up car and it’s coming shortly to a showroom near you.

Set to outsmart even the Smart Car and end forever the travails of parallel parking, the fold-up is not like anything you’ve ever clapped eyes on before.

Generically a Toyota, it’s fitted with a nifty and highly sophisticated “decompress feature” which reduces the car in size to 2ft by 2ft. Billed as the end to parking hassle for urban dwellers, the technically brilliant model has already attracted the interest of Apple’s leading design team. Possible names, including the iOpener, were being touted on Twitter last night.

A Cork showroom has secured display rights to the fold-up with Cogans Carrigaline first in the world to showcase the motoring miracle.

Speaking at the launch in Carrigaline, Rob Cogan managing director said: “I live in a built-up area and finding a parking space in the evenings can be a nightmare, this kind of technology will revolutionise parking in all sorts of situations.”

The fold-up car is available across the Toyota range from today, but it will be some months before the technology can be adapted for saloon-type vehicles such as the Avensis and Corolla.

To arrange a test drive of the new fold-up car, you can contact Cogans Carrigaline on 021 4852500.

Apple issued a brief statement last night on foot of rumours that it was set to come on board: “Clearly, if we were to take it on, it would have great new features like Control Centre, AirDrop, and smarter multitasking. It would be designed so nothing gets in your way or slows you down.”

Asked if they had come up with a name, the spokesman said they were considering calling the car the iVebeenhad.
