Father convicted of assault and fined for slapping daughter, 11

A father who slapped his daughter in a heated access row was convicted of assault and fined €300 yesterday.

Judge Olann Kelleher said that having previously found the facts proved against the 45-year-old, he had been anxious to avoid giving him a conviction.

The judge referred to the probation report and the fact the accused had two previous assault convictions.
